What to Include in a Product Enquiry

A short checklist to turn a product name into a clear purchasing brief.

Start with the exact material and intended use, then add your specification, quantity and destination requirements.

Make the product request specific

A broad product name may leave important questions open. Add the exact name or identifier you already use, the required form and any relevant grade or source requirement. If you do not yet have a complete specification, distinguish what is essential from what is still open for discussion.

Keep the requirements together

Include the specification items your team needs to review, along with the units and test methods where known. For tea saponin extract, for example, state the requested form and the basis of any content requirement. A requested value is a purchasing requirement; it is not evidence that a particular product meets it.

Describe the proposed purchase

Provide the expected quantity, packaging preferences and destination. Add the documents needed for your review and your requested timing. These details establish the questions to discuss; availability, pricing and order terms still require confirmation.

Your enquiry checklist

  • Exact product name or identifier
  • Intended use and requested form
  • Required specification items and their basis
  • Documents needed for review
  • Quantity, packaging, destination and requested timing

This checklist organises an enquiry. It does not establish product suitability, availability or compliance.
